She weighed in at a healthy 21 lbs (that should put her equal with her older sister Jamie) and was 27.25” long. She was in the 50th percentile for all the important things, making her quite “normal.” Her sisters were happy that she required no shots; however, she did have to have her TB and iron tested. Meghan took the girls outside to allow them to burn off some energy. They took it as an opportunity to dust up on their chalk drawing skills (certainly something that will be needed in the months ahead). Please enjoy the newly added pictures and video showing the fun had by all. Hayley has a savings account through the fine folks at SmartyPig to help her save for her Kindergarten education. She would really like to attend St. Thomas the Apostle School next year. She is counting on the generosity and support of others to help her reach her goal. If you don’t feel like you can make a cash donation, don’t worry we will have many more opportunities for you to show your support (like buying gift certificates through the SCRIP program). As you can see from the graphic below, Hayley is already at 10% of her personal goal. You can find a permanent link to the SmartyPig account on our “about” page.

Not only does the site have a fresh look, but it also has some different underlying pieces of software. The program that ran the blog needed to be scrapped so that I could fix a problem with the RSS feed. As such most of the archive is missing. I’m not sure if I’m going to fix that. I think this blog needs a fresh new start. That new start will begin today. Feel free to email me if you have any comments. An Ode to a KIA Van.

Today I have rented from Enterprise, a lovely sedan;

It's white, and it's small, 4 doors and a trunk.

It has given me a new appreciation for my KIA van;

And anyone who thinks they're the same, well that's just bunk.

Under the conditions of the roads: they're snowy, slippery, and slick;

The half-ton car I've borrowed gets no traction at all;

I've spun my tires, skidded off to the side, and it takes forever to go.

Besides transferring kids in and out of car seats is anything but quick;

The kids' car seats are so close , they can hold hands, so needless to say it's quite small.

So, let me just say that I'll stick with my van when it comes to my kids and this snow.

So, there you go. It's my ode, and I hope you liked it.

Announcing Sydney

It may be a little late, but I thought I would update those that are not aware of the fact that Sydney Grace was born on June 4th. She weighed in at a healthy 8lbs 5.5oz and was 21 inches long. To celebrate Sydney's birth the Detroit Red Wings went on to win the Stanley Cup later that evening.

You can find more pictures of Sydney in the snapshots photo section.

I know it's been quite a while since anyone has updated; but here is a little snippet of updates of what the three girls are up to. Perhaps one day I'll do one about Brad and myself; but it's not likely to come any time soon. To spice things up, I think I'll start with the youngest.

Sydney - age: 2 months 3 weeks old.

Nicknames - Syd (the kid) [by Mom & Dad]; See-See [by HayJam].

Likes - Her swing, rattles, her bouncy chair's musical mobile thingy, & her musical bunny.

Dislikes - Stops during car rides, wet diapers, a bath too soon after waking up, & her swing's batteries running out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie - age: 1 year 9 months 1 week 6 days old.
Nicknames - Jamers & Jay-jay.
Likes - 'Hop-hops' (bunny rabbit) hair clips, Peppa Pig, Kipper, Elmo, Maggie & the Ferocious Beast, reading books to her baby dolls, playing with PlayDoh, playing with magnetic dress-up dolls, & doing everything Hayley does.
Dislikes - Sitting still, not getting her way, & not being able to do what Hayley's doing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hayley - age: 4 years 2 months 1 week 5 days old.

Nicknames - Hayley Jeanie-beans (mine), Hales, & HayHay (by Jamie).

Likes - Dress-up, playing on the computer, playing with her Barbies & Princess dolls, reading books, making up her own stories & songs, imaginary games, Charlie & Lola, Dora & the Backyardigans.

Dislikes - Going to bed, sitting down to eat, & having Jamie take the lead on whatever they're playing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Enjoy the update.   More pictures to come as soon as I figure out how to upload them onto the computer.   I leave you with a funny haiku that made me laugh out loud when I saw it on a t-shirt on Cafepress.com -
Haikus are easy.
But sometimes they don't make sense.
Hippopotamus.
Ha ha!   :)
